Introduction:

Hello, and welcome to the first ever AOR Formula Renault 3.5 season! After 4 years of running iRacing leagues on AOR, including 5 seasons of Pro Mazda and 11 seasons of the Formula Renault 2.0, we are moving to something new. Formula Renault 2.0 season 11 ended with Rene Osterkamp becoming one of only two 3-time champions, and the only to achieve this in the Formula Renault 2.0. Once again, SimRC took the teams championship.

This thread here is for the Formula Renault 3.5 league that will be running for this season, however this will be different from our usual running of a league. This league will coexist with the Formula 3 league, running on alternate Fridays. What this means is that the season will be shorter, half the length/half the races of a normal season. Both these new seasons will be run in an effort to determine what will be best for the future of open wheel iRacing with AOR. For more insight into these plans, check out the post here!

Please make sure you read all of the info in this post before signing up.

General Information:

What day and time do events start? The race nights will begin every other Friday from 19:40 UK time (GMT), with qualifying commencing at 20:30 UK time (GMT).

When will the season start? The first race of the season will being running on the second week of the 2019 S1 iRacing season (21st December 2018).

What is the race calendar? The race calendar follows the official iRacing schedule. For each of the weeks with an FR3.5 race, we will drive whichever track is used in iRacing's official FR3.5 series.

What are the entry requirements? You will need to have a licence class of B-class or above. You are free to sign up during pre-season regardless, but you will be denied entry upon the start of the season if you do not meet the requirement, in which case drivers who do meet the requirement will be given priority over you. You are also expected to be active on the forum in order to receive the latest updates. If you are completely new to the series, we will check to see if you are suitable for the league, which will be dependant on having done a sufficient amount of racing and running in the car (or a similar car) at a reasonable pace.

How do I register as part of a team? Simply state your team preferences in this thread - the name of your team and name of the driver you're teaming up with. There will be a maximum of 2 drivers per team at any one time. Drivers can be changed during the season but this will need to be authorised by the League Coordinators.

How many spaces are available? There will be a maximum of 36 spaces, with a reserve list (maximum of 10 at one time). If all of the spaces have been allocated, the sign-up thread will be closed until a seat has been vacated.

What happens if I'm on the reserve list? All drivers on the reserve list will be approached every week by the League Coordinators who will offer you a seat in place of an absent driver. Please keep active on the forums in order to receive these messages and accept any potential invites. Members that are inactive on the forums for two weeks will be removed from the reserve list.

Can I participate in a 'one off' race? We will not be accepting one-off 'wildcard' entries for drivers who wish to dip their toe in the water. It's recommended that you get to know the car in the official iRacing series before committing to the league. Once you sign up, you are expected to participate across all 12 race nights.

How is the Championship structured? The Championship consists of 6 longer 1-hour races, running every other week, starting from the Friday of week 2 of the iRacing 2019 Season 1 official schedule.

For this season, there will be no drop weeks due to the shorter nature of the season.

Race night format?
● 50-minute practice session
● 10-minute qualifying (maximum 3 laps allowed)
● 60 minute single race (grid based on qualifying, mandatory pit-stop).

More details can be found in the rules thread.

Are setups permitted? The Championship is open to setup modification.

What is the points system? Points are awarded to the top 20 finishers. In addition to the normal points system for finishing positions, 1 additional point is handed out for pole position and fastest lap. Additionally, 2 points will be awarded for completing the race with 0x incident points, and 1 point will be awarded for completing the race with 1x incident point.

Full details on points scoring can be found in the rules thread.

Are there any recommended files to download? If you wish to create your own team livery you can find the Formula Renault 3.5 template under the "Paint" section of the iRacing website. Trading Paints is recommended to upload and show off your livery on race nights as well as making the rest of the grid look suited and booted!

Will there be any coverage of the races? We are hoping to arrange live broadcasts of all the races to take place on the official AOR channel. For this season, we are aiming to give in-house broadcasts a go in order to reduce the costs and donations required to make this happen, but this is yet to be fully confirmed. More info on this is to come.

How to Sign-Up:

By signing up, you confirm that you have read through the league rules and agree with all of its contents. You also confirm that you are able to attend races regularly on Friday nights.

Priority will be given to drivers who took part in at least 8 rounds (full race nights) in Season 11 of the Formula Renault 2.0, but there will be several spaces available beyond this. The priority deadline is set to Tuesday 11th December at 20:00 UK time (GMT).

Please make your entry in the following format:
Number preference - Name - Nationality - Team (if applicable) - iRating - Licence (B or above) - Have you read and understood the rules?

For example:
#44 - Phil Reid - UK - Team AOR Orange - iRating - A/B X.XX - I have read and understood the rules

*Certain numbers belonging to veteran drivers have been frozen and may not be picked by other drivers, these are listed here. Car #1 is reserved for the AOR FR2.0 Season 11 Champion.
