‘Twas several nights before Xmas, 20 to be exact and all through the house… um, who are all these people and why are they all dressed in flame resistant suits? Aha, thought I, motor racing drivers they be and only some races will satisfy these galoots. Away, away with you all, said I, to Blue Moon Bay in Gr. 4 cars (whatever those are). The ‘Other Blue Hell’ seemed only to increase their desire so to the highways and byways of Tokyo with Gr. 3 cars, cried I, but yet again their fire only increased. Will nothing rid me of these meddlesome creeps? Fine, fine, to Sainte Croix with Gr. 2 and Circuit de la Sarthe with Gr. 1 but, no. More they wanted… Oh, I give up. Greetings of the Seasons and welcome to the Gran Turismo Sport League Xmas Cup here at Apex Online Racing. This will be a four round tour of some of the most iconic circuits in the world featuring cars from all four race car groupings in Gran Turismo Sport.

Starting Thursday December 5th, 2019 each race for the Xmas Cup will start promptly at 7:45pm UK time lasting 1 hour and preceded by a 10 min qualifying session. The Open Lobby Room opens at 7pm for practice and in order to ensure the best experience for everyone involved it is strongly suggested that all drivers enter the lobby at least 15 minutes before the event start time.
If you are unable to attend a race please contact a league coordinator at least 1 hour prior to the event start time.

As part of your official sign up please complete and post in the appropriate thread your fastest lap at Sardegna - Road Track - B in the Gr. 4 Dodge Viper through the Time Trial function in the offline Arcade Mode with BoP tuned on. (92% power, 107% weight) It is recommended that drivers use Racing Super Soft tyres and turn on the in-game Penalty System as it is to the benefit of everyone involved that the posted times be as ‘clean’ as possible so that drivers can be placed in the race room that best represents their skill level. Setups are allowed for the Time Trial as there is no way to prohibit their use but, keep in mind that setups will be prohibited for the races.
When you are satisfied with your time trial, post a screenshot of the Time Trial Ranking Board to the appropriate thread in the AOR GT Sport League forum. A valid entry must contain the following:

In the event of 20+ participants (16 full time drivers + 4 reserve drivers) multiple race rooms will be created each with their own dedicated coordinator. For example if there are enough sign-ups to fill 3 rooms (total of 48) the top 16 fastest qualifiers would report to room #1, 17-31 would report to room #2 and finally, 32-48 would report to room #3.

In order to keep each Race Room sufficiently populated we will split into 2 rooms at 20+ sign ups, 3 rooms at 36+ sign ups and so on and so forth. Race Room assignment will be based on your sign up time trial and for returning drivers, your current AOR driver rating. Consequently, if the total number of drivers for two rooms drops to 16 or less the two rooms will merge and adopt the points table of the higher room.
All rooms will award one (1) additional point for fastest lap during the Feature & Sprint Race.
As a baseline we will be using the Race Room 3 or ‘Semi-Pro’ points table if we have only enough sign-ups to fill one room.
As there will only be four rounds for the Xmas Cup there will be no drop round.
After round 2 each tier will be reset according to the points accumulated by each driver in the standings, according to the criteria already laid out above. The resetting of the tiers will only be implemented if more than 24 drivers have signed up.
Round 1 will consist of a 10 minute qualifying round directly followed by a 40 minute feature race. After a short break there will be a 20 minute sprint race featuring a Reverse Grid based on Previous race results. Subsequent races will feature a novel twist for Feature Race grid placement, eliminating the need for a qualifier. A full 16 driver grid would be: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. The Sprint Race for rounds 2-4 will be a Reverse Grid based on Previous Race Results.
Round 1 will feature Gr. 4 Front Wheel Drive models only and use a custom BoP.

Round 2 will feature selected Gr. 3 Front-Engine Rear Wheel Drive models using the in-game BoP.

A maximum of 4 entries per vehicle (6 if we exceed 24 participants) will be enforced to prevent an accidental one-make series. Vehicle choices for each round must be made at least 48 hours prior to race day in the appropriate forum page.

A 10 minute qualifying session, utilizing the in-game qualifying mode, will precede the race for each round. This will be a group qualifying session, similar to that used in Formula 1, which means drivers are responsible for creating and maintaining their own space during qualifying. As tyre wear and fuel consumption will be turned off during qualifying, fuel burning and pitting for fresh tyres will be unnecessary. It is vitally important that all drivers be on track, past the first sector timing spilt, prior to the start of qualifying, as remaining in the pits can and will cause a driver’s vehicle to become uncontrollable.
