AOR Project CARS 2 IndyCar - Season 3
XB1/PS4 - League Information


This thread contains general information about the AOR IndyCar Leagues on the platforms XB1 and PS4, such as the league structure, assist restrictions and lobby settings.


League Structure
● Amount of leagues:
Each platform runs a set amount of leagues, depending on the amount of drivers signing up at the start of the season.
● League setup: In the event of multiple leagues on one platform, the leagues will be tiered, with the aim to have the faster drivers in the higher league(s) and the slower drivers in the lower league(s).
● Driver placements: All drivers will be asked to complete a set of time trial laps before we can place them into an appropriate league.
● Race night format:
- Qualifying: 10 minutes.
- Qualifying: Texas Motor Speedway 2 outlaps // 2 flying laps // 1 inlap
- Qualifying: Indianapolis 1 outlap // 4 flying laps // 1 inlap
- Race: ±1 hour in laps.

Tier System

● Amount of leagues
Each tier contains one league. The amount of tiers/leagues each platform runs depends on the amount of drivers signing up at the start of the season.
All of the tiers will be running the IndyCar class cars.


● Driver placements
In the event of multiple leagues on one platform, the aim is to have the faster drivers in the higher league(s) and slower drivers in the lower league(s).
All drivers will have to do the time trial in order for us to be able to place them in a league suited for their speed.

Assist Restrictions

In Season 3, we'll run with 'Authentic' Driving Assists, this means you will have the assists available that each car has in real life.

Racing line will be allowed in all tiers of each platform.

Lobby Settings

The following lobby settings will be used for the IndyCar league races.


Structure
● Maximum Grid Size: 16
● Opponents All Identical Car: No (same class)
● Car Class: IndyCar


Sessions
● Rolling Start: Manual AOR Rolling Start
● Qualifying: 10 mins
● Race time: ±1 hour in laps.


Conditions
● Weather: Announced on Tuesday before the race in the Weather Centre.
● Weather Progression: Real Time
● Date Type: Custom, see calendar or race thread for correct in-game date.
● Starting Time: See calendar or race thread.
● Time Progression: Real Time


Restrictions
● Force Interior View: No
● Force Manual Gears: No
● Force Realistic Driving Aids: Yes (Since these cars don't have any assists, ABS, TC or SC is not available)
● Force Default Setups: No
● Allow Ghosted Vehicles: No
● Mandatory pit-stop: No

● Damage: Performance Impacting

● Tyre Wear: Authentic
● Fuel Usage: Authentic

● Car selection process
At the start of the season, after the leagues and driver placements have been announced, a thread will be opened within each league's subforum where car selection will take place.
The selection on car and liveries will be on a best Time Trial time basis.
The same livery is also available for the Oval races. The driver needs to use the same livery for circuit and oval races. Except for the 26 Andretti we are aware that it has a different livery for the Oval.

We heavily advise drivers actively test the cars they are considering using.
A car change is not allowed during the season.


● Team Registration Process
After the leagues and driver placements have been announced, a thread will be opened within each league's subforum where Car and Team Registration will take place.

For the IndyCar league we only use the teams who are actual at this moment racing in the official IndyCar league. Drivers who pick their car and livery will be automatically placed in the corresponding team.
Because the best Time Trial rider has the first pick, it could happen that you are not in the same team as your friend. It is always possible to ask in the forum between the drivers if they want to switch team. This must happen before the first race.

-There is a maximum of 4 x 3 and 2 x 2 drivers per team.
-Drivers may not switch teams mid-season.

Points System

● Driver Championship scoring
The following points for XB1 and PS4 will be scored for each race finishing position.
  1. 50

Fastest Lap - 1 point

Double driver points are for the IndyCar Speedway and Watkins Glen International (not for teams).
Qualifying driver points for the IndyCar Speedway (not for teams):

  1. 9
  2. 8
  3. 7
  4. 6
  5. 5
  6. 4
  7. 3
  8. 2
  9. 1

- Drivers who complete more then 90% of the race distance and have retired to the pits will be eligible to score full points for their final classified position.
- Drivers who complete between 75% and 90% of the race distance and have retired to the pits will be eligible to score half points for their final classified position.
- A driver who disconnects at any stage of the race will not score points and will be classified as DNF (Did Not Finish) in the race results.

In the case of drivers being tied on points in the standings, the higher position will be awarded to the holder of most first places. If the number of first places is the same, the holder of most second places, then third places, and so on until a winner emerges.


Team Championship scoring
In each race, the Teams will score points based on the finishing positions of their two best drivers in the race.

Disconnection Guidelines

● Disconnections
If a driver loses connection during qualifying, they will be invited back into the lobby or may join on their own to continue from where they left off.

If a driver loses connection in the transition from qualifying to race, or during the race, that is tough luck, and unfortunately nothing can be done about that.

We do our best to ensure that the best available connection in the lobby acts as the lobby host, so any connection issues are normally a result of a fault on the disconnecting driver's end. Please ensure that your internet connection is fine, and that your NAT type is open, before entering the race lobby.

If you still encounter issues with a particular host, let your coordinator know.

● Mass disconnections
If 4 (or more) drivers lose connection to the lobby during the transition from qualifying to the race, the lobby will be restarted and the race will be started with a manual rolling start, where drivers will use the first lap of the race to line up in a double file formation based their qualifying positions. Proper concentration and cooperation from the drivers are required to make this work. This will only happen one time. If the problem persists then the race will be postponed.

The coordinator of the league will make sure everybody is aware of their position - this may take some time.

During the race, if half (or more) of the drivers in a race lose connection at the same time, or over a short period of time, that counts as a mass disconnection.

If less than 50% of the race was completed at the time of the mass disconnection, the race will be restarted immediately, preferably with a new lobby host. If several drivers are unable to restart the race at that time, the race will be rescheduled for a later date.

If more than 50% of the race was completed at the time of the mass disconnection, the race will end, and the race order from the time of the first disconnection becomes the final result. Half points are awarded to all drivers.

If more than 90% of the race was completed at the time of the mass disconnection, the race will end, and the race result will be declared as the order at the time of the first disconnection.

● Postponing a race.
Unfortunately, sometimes the technology that allows us to go racing turns against us. Try as we might, occasionally, it isn't to be. This sometimes means we have to post-pone or cancel a race. If we do so it's because we feel it's the fairest option for everyone.

If a race is postponed or cancelled. The round in question will take place the week following the end of the season. This is to keep the rest of the calendar in sync for social media promotion. If any extra rounds suffer issues, those rounds will not be carried out and will be cancelled. This is again, to keep things in sync with any interim leagues we run. In a case where multiple rounds have been cancelled, the first track that was postponed will be raced at the end of the season.

Reasons we may postpone or cancel a race include:
- A late update to a platform: If Xbox for example drops a 5GB update 2 hours before the race, we may pro-actively post-pone the race to make sure everyone has had chance to update it before the race. It would be unfair to not be able to race because your download speed isn't quite as quick as some others.

- Lobby/Connection issues: If Drivers are continually getting dropped and there is no way of keeping everyone in the lobby then we may postpone the race, rather than having a 4-6 person race.

- Mass Disconnection: See above.

Who to contact
For league related enquiries or questions, your first point of contact should be a staff member within the league you are assigned to - preferably the League Coordinator. Upon joining a league, it will be made clear who your League Coordinator is.

Example reasons to contact them could be:
● To inform them that you're missing a race
● To get information about your league
● If you are unhappy about something, either with regards to a race or on the forums

If you have an issue with your League Coordinator and would rather discuss the issue with someone else, then seek out another person from the below list and address the issue to them. Our Coordinators and Moderators are expected to remain completely unbiased, and as long as you address the situation sensibly and maturely they will be happy to discuss any issues no matter who it is with.
