Race Weekend Format

Practice:
● Practice sessions are not officially organised - it's up to the league's drivers to arrange this. Our drivers are frequently organising independent social races that can be used as practice.

Qualifying:
● A single 15 minute session directly before the race. Drivers post fastest lap times to determine the grid positions.

Race:
● A race to the finish of 50% distance directly after qualifying to determine the points scored.

Race Classification

Points system:
1st - 25 pts
2nd - 18 pts
3rd - 15 pts
4th - 12 pts
5th - 10 pts
6th - 8 pts
7th - 6 pts
8th - 4 pts
9th - 2 pts
10th - 1 pt
11th-16th - 0 pts


DNF Rules:
● In the case of a driver not finishing the race but finishes in the points they will be awarded full points unless deliberately crashing out or Rage quitting

Modified points:
● If a driver deliberately leaves the race in any way - also known as rage-quitting - no points are awarded, regardless of race distance completed.

Disconnections:
● If you lose connection in a race, that is tough luck. However, if you lose connection in qualifying, before any driver has posted a lap time, the Coordinator of the league will restart the lobby in order to get you back in. A maximum of 2 consecutive restarts can happen as a result of this.

Mass disconnections:
● If half, or more, of the drivers in a race disconnect at the same time, or over a short period of time, that counts as a mass disconnection.
● If less than 50% of the race was completed at the time of the mass disconnection, the race will be restarted immediately, preferably with a new lobby host. If several drivers are unable to restart the race at that time, the race will be rescheduled for a later date.
● If more than 50% of the race was completed at the time of the mass disconnection, the race will end, and the race order from the time of the first disconnection becomes the final result. Half points are awarded to all drivers.
● If more than 90% of the race was completed at the time of the Mass Disconnection, the race will end, and the race order from the time of the first disconnection becomes the final result. Full points are awarded to all drivers.


Championship standings:
● Drivers and Constructors are ranked in the standings based on how many points they've scored over the course of the season.
● If two or more drivers or constructors are tied on points, the higher place in the Championship shall be awarded to the holder of most first places. If the number of first places is the same, the holder of most second places, then third places, and so on until a winner emerges.

Racing Rules

Clean racing:
● Race cleanly at all times. No contact should occur between cars on track, and as a driver you are required to do your best to avoid this from happening. Accidents do happen, but if you are at fault for causing a collision, you may be penalised.

● Deliberately crashing into another car will result in being permanently excluded from the league.

● If you accidentally take out another car, or are responsible for causing an incident, you have to slow down and safely let the affected car(s) back in front of you on track, as long as the circumstances allow it. Even if it doesn't benefit the other car, that is the punishment you have to take for causing a collision. If you fail to abide by this rule, you are likely to receive a harsher penalty by the stewards if the incident is brought up. This rule can only be overruled by the affected driver telling you over voice chat to keep going.

● The above rule still applies even if lag (connection issues) is the cause of the incident, when it is obvious that your car's lag is the cause of another driver going off, as this would still be classed as an unfair overtake. Please be more careful around other drivers if you are regularly involved in lag-related incidents.

Overtaking:
● Don't be too aggressive when trying to overtake. As the chasing car, it is generally your responsibility to not make contact with the car in front.

Defending:
● Excessive weaving and blocking is not allowed. When defending from another car, choose a line on the track and stick to it. Do not force a chasing car off the track by leaving it too little room. If the attacking car is alongside you going into a corner (generally if the attacking car's nose is ahead of the defending car's sidepod), you must adjust your line to avoid contact.

Corner cutting:
● Stay within the track boundaries with at least two tyres at all times. The track boundaries are defined by the white lines, NOT by the edge of the kerbs. Cutting corners, or extending the track, to gain an advantage is not allowed. Drivers found to be persistently breaking this rule will be penalised retrospectively.

● If you overtake another driver with all four wheels off track, you must give them the position back, unless the game awards you a penalty.

Qualifying etiquette:
● In qualifying, it is your own responsibility to find free space on the track when going for a hot lap. A car on a hot lap does not have to yield for a faster car approaching from behind. If you are on an in- or out-lap, however, you have to let faster cars pass you without blocking them.

On Track Regulations

In-game penalties:
● As we are running with the 'reduced rules' setting, the game will only award 10-second penalties or disqualifications, no drive-throughs.

● If you feel that the game has awarded you an unfair time penalty, you can apply for a penalty removal in the Stewards Panel after the race. More information about this can be found under the Rule Enforcement section.

Flags:
Always be aware of any flags that may be shown to you while racing.

Yellow flag: No overtaking allowed.
Green flag: Resume normal race.
Blue flag: You are being lapped by a faster car. Let the car through safely without blocking them. If you are going faster than a car that has lapped you, do not attempt to unlap yourself unless it is safe to do so and doesn't hinder the car in front.

Safety car guidelines:
We will be running with the safety car enabled for the first time in the X360 leagues, however it comes with the following conditions:

● It is completely prohibited to crash your car in a race for the purpose of bringing out the safety car. Anyone found to have deliberately crashed out (eg. rage-quit in a manner that can cause a safety car situation) will be severely penalised, regardless of whether this actually causes a safety car or not.

● If you are the lead car behind the safety car, make sure you keep a safe distance to the safety car to avoid potentially hitting it if lag or other inconsistencies occur, as this may lead to the game disqualifying you from the race. Also, do not slow the pack down to a ridiculously low speed when controlling the pace ahead of a restart.

● If we experience a major glitch with the safety car (for example someone being unfairly and unavoidably disqualified due to a safety car glitch), this feature will be turned off for all leagues with immediate effect for the rest of the season.

Tyre rules:
● You can make as many pit stops as you need during the race.

● You must use both dry tyre compounds (options and primes) at least once during the race. If the conditions are wet at any time in the race, this rule becomes invalid.

Pit stops:
● If you qualify inside the top 10, you must start the race with the tyres on which you set your fastest lap in qualifying, unless conditions are wet. Crashing out of qualifying in order to start the race on a different set of tyres is not allowed.

● Stay within the white line when entering and exiting the pit lane. If you cause a dangerous situation by crossing the pit entrance or exit line, or if this is done in a major way in order to gain time, you will be penalised.

KERS:
● The 'Kinetic Energy Recovery System' gives the car an added speed boost, which can be activated by the driver pressing a 'boost button'. KERS can be used at any time, up until its per lap usage limit, and is recharged when the driver crosses the start-finish line.

DRS:
● The 'Drag Reduction System' (or adjustable rear wing) gives the car more straight line speed when in use. It is activated by the driver pressing a button, and deactivated once the driver brakes. DRS can only be used within the defined 'activation zones' on the track. In the race, it can only be used if the driver is less than one second behind another car going through the 'detection zone'. In wet conditions, DRS is disabled.

● Driving in a dangerous or unfair manner in order to gain the use of DRS in the race is not allowed and may be penalised retrospectively. This kind of driving includes - but is not limited to - violently decelerating and/or steering when clearly in front of the following car, or deliberately letting another car go by to ensure DRS activation.

General Behaviour

Communication:
● Please use a working headset while in the pre-race lobby and while racing, to effectively receive any potential messages or instructions from the League Coordinator. Using a headset is not mandatory, but desirable. Having the ability to talk to other drivers during the race can also make it easier to avoid - and resolve - incidents.

Lobby etiquette:
● Shouting, name-calling and generally speaking rudely is not acceptable. Drivers who are a disruptive influence on the lobby atmosphere will be penalised accordingly, or in extreme cases removed from the league.

● Respect the other drivers. Keep a friendly atmosphere in the race lobby and treat your fellow drivers as equals, regardless of them being quicker or slower than you.

● Respect the League Coordinator. Listen if he is giving a message, and accept the decisions he makes. If you feel any actions/decisions are wrong, address the issue calmly and maturely. Coordinators' decisions are final within the lobby, but may be reviewed later if you feel an error has been made. Please accept that making a call instantly is very tricky and the Coordinator, even if participating in the race, is expected to be entirely neutral.

Race etiquette:
● If you are involved in an on-track incident, don't overreact. It may be frustrating, but you need to stay calm and get on with it. Losing out due to another driver's mistake or recklessness is no excuse for retaliation or acting against the rules. If another driver does something you feel is against the rules, report it to the Stewards Panel after the race rather than argue about it over the voice chat.

● If you are having a bad race, don't act foolishly. As a driver, you have to accept that some races will be better than others and you can't always have it your way. If you are unable to enjoy the racing due to not being at the front, this is not the place for you - there are many drivers in the league, and someone always have to be at the back.

● If you know you suffer from lag issues, are are battling with someone on track whom you know suffers from lag issues, you need to exercise extreme caution when attempting overtakes or using defensive maneouvers.

Rage-quitting:
● Deliberately quitting the race in any way - whether that is by quitting through the pause menu, getting yourself disqualified or deliberately crashing your car - is not allowed, unless you have a very good reason to do so. Accepted reasons for quitting could be that you are a danger to other drivers on track due to poor driving or connection issues, or that you are so far behind that it's obvious that you won't be racing anyone for the rest of the race, but ideally we want all drivers to stay in the race until the end. Quitting due to being angry at something - rage-quitting, in other words - is not a good reason.

Forum activity:
● You need to be an active member on the AOR forum while being a driver in our leagues. We aren't forcing you to make several posts every day, but we prefer drivers who are involved with the community. We will occasionally check how long it has been since a driver has been logged into his forum account - if you have been inactive on the forum for a long time, you may be removed from the league.

● You are also expected to behave in a respectful manner on the forum, like in the race lobbies. Please avoid name-calling, baiting and other behaviour that is intended to aggravate other members of the community.

Participation

No-showing:
● If you are unable to attend a race, you have to give notice for your absence before the race starts. This is done by informing your League Coordinator of your situation, either by sending him a private message or by making a post in the official race thread. It is your responsibility to make sure the Coordinator gets your message.

● When informing the Coordinator of your absence, a proper reason must be given for why you can't attend. No-showing a race because you don't like the track, simply saying 'I can't race this week', or other similar reasons are not accepted and will be marked as an uninformed absence.

● If you get marked for 3 uninformed absences throughout a season, whether this is consecutive or not, you will be removed from the league and not allowed to rejoin.

● Getting another driver to race in your name is also completely prohibited and will result in serious punishment.

Connection & Lag:
● It's an unfortunate aspect of online racing that having a stable connection can be critical to being able to race closely with other cars. While we understand that not everyone can have perfect connections, and that occasional lag can't be avoided, we reserve the right to ask a driver to step down from the league if their connection is causing too many issues for other drivers.

Pulling out:
● If you have to pull out of the league, you must let a member of the F1 Team know. If you leave by simply not showing up for the races, without saying anything, you will be placed on the blacklist, which means you will not be allowed to rejoin the leagues in the future.

● It is impossible for us to stop anyone from leaving if they've made their mind up, but pulling out of the leagues without a proper reason, will also see you placed on the blacklist. A proper reason would be something happening in your life that forces you to quit - something that you didn't expect when signing up. However, choosing to quit due to getting bored of the game, having a bad season or because something goes against you, is not a good reason. Remember, when signing up you commit yourself to racing for a full season, not only for a few races.

● If you find yourself in a situation where you're not enjoying your league because all other drivers are too quick - or too slow - compared to yourself, contact a member of the F1 Team rather than just giving up - and maybe we can find a solution. We may grant league moves for drivers during the season if it's clear that they've been misplaced, given that this doesn't upset the balance between the leagues with regards to driver numbers.

● Note that the above rules only apply during the season. We don't have a problem with drivers choosing to leave after a season has finished.

Rule Enforcement

We can't possibly control all the actions of our drivers, but we have ways to penalise drivers who break the rules.

Stewards Panel:
The Stewards Panel forum can be used to report incidents that occur in a race. If you feel that another driver has broken the rules, you can make an enquiry for that driver to be penalised. It is however recommended that you try to resolve the problem by talking to the other driver(s) involved before taking it to the Stewards Panel.

What you can make a stewards enquiry for:

Racing incidents: If you feel another driver has caused an incident - eg. hitting your car, forcing you off the track, or driving too aggressively - you should report this to the stewards for investigation.

Corner cutting: If you witness another driver is persistently gaining time by abusing the track limits, you should report this to the stewards for investigation.

Removing an unfair time penalty: If you receive a time penalty from the game, and you feel this was awarded unfairly, you can make an enquiry for this penalty to be removed. When making such an enquiry, you need to provide evidence of the penalty being applied. Evidence can be either in the form of video footage, or a picture of the post-race race director screen showing what the penalty was for and the time of when it was applied. Any appeals without this will be dismissed.

Note that there is a time limit of 2 days after the race has run to make a stewards enquiry. If any new rule violations come to light through videos released after this time, it is possible to report this, but only if this rule-break is something that was not visible to the other driver(s) in the race at the time it happened.

Penalties:
The stewards have a variety of penalties that may be applied to punish drivers if a rule has been broken, depending on the severity of the violation. The available penalties are sorted below, in order of severity. Breaking a rule also leads to penalty points being added to your name - see further down for more details.

● 10-second time penalty
● 20-second time penalty
● Qualifying ban for the next race (will usually be applied in place of a time penalty if the driver did not finish the race)
● Disqualification from the race
● One-race ban (will also be applied upon reaching 35 penalty points)
● Multiple-race ban
● Permanent removal from the league (may also be applied upon reaching 50 penalty points)

Any penalties will be aimed at the person who has done wrong - we cannot compensate anyone else as a result of someone's actions. All penalties are discussed by the Stewards Panel (consisting of the members of the F1 Team - Admins, Moderators and Coordinators - from all platforms) before being issued and the driver will always be informed of the outcome. The Stewards Panel is completely neutral and will not include anyone who may be affected by the incident in question.

Penalty points system:
The penalty points system is a way of keeping track of a driver's record of breaking the rules. If you accumulate too many penalty points, you will be removed from the league.

Penalty points will be added alongside normal race penalties, as per the list below.

5 points - Abusive behaviour on the forum
5 points - Causing a minor avoidable collision
10 points - Causing a major avoidable collision
10 points - Failing to wait for the affected driver after causing a collision (in addition to one of the above)
10 points - No-showing a race without giving notice
10 points - Rage-quitting (see relevant rules under General Behaviour for what is acceptable)
5-15 points - Excessively abusing the track limits (depending upon severity)
25 points - Deliberately destroying your car (especially serious with safety car enabled)
50 points - Deliberately crashing into another driver

If you accumulate 25 points, you will be awarded a qualifying ban.

If you accumulate 40 points, you will be awarded a one-race ban.

If you accumulate 50 points, your league position will be put under review, with the likely outcome of being removed from the league.

Penalty points will usually be reset ahead of a new season.

Blacklist:
● If you end up being removed from the league, you will be placed on the blacklist. You could also be placed on the blacklist for leaving the league mid-season without a proper reason.

● Being on the blacklist generally means that you will not be allowed back into our leagues at any time in the future.

● In some cases, drivers may be given a second chance if the Admins deem there is a reason to believe that the driver has changed for the better. However, this will usually come with stricter conditions, and being removed for a second time will mean permanent exclusion from the leagues, no exceptions.

Who to contact:

Your first point of contact should be your League Coordinator for league related things. Upon joining a league, or at the start of the season, it will be made clear who your League Coordinator is.

Example reasons to contact them could be:

● To inform them that you're missing a race
● To get information about your league
● If you are unhappy about something, either with regards to a race or on the forums

If you have an issue with your League Coordinator and would rather discuss the issue with someone else, then seek out another person from the above list and address the issue to them. Our Coordinators and Moderators are expected to remain completely unbiased, and as long as you address the situation sensibly and maturely they will be happy to discuss any issues no matter who it is with.

Please try to avoid contacting Admins, Super Moderators and other site leaders not related to your league with things that could be sorted by the league's Coordinators and Moderators.
