Guess I can be happy wth P5, P6 if Karthikeyan's penalty gets removed. I got a PB in qualy and was 4th for most of the session, then suddenly 4 people mugged me on their last runs which dropped me to 8th. Avoided whatever that incident was at the start and settled into P5, dropping to P6 when Franglish overtook me. Then I think it was he and pritt were battling going into turn 1, I braked at what I felt was a normal place but perhaps due to their battling pritt was slower ahead of me than I expected. It looked like I was going to slow it down in time to avoid him, until the game decided to throw pritt around in a spin. Since it was clearly a lag bubble and my fault I waited up for him, which annoyingly put me in the bunch of cars that I had safely broken clear of.
Next stage of the race was battling with pritt, Blue and a laggy Tia. Tia was clearly out of sync because there were times when he was defending fresh air, and he also smashed into me down a straight despite the fact that I was alongisde him for the duration of it. This made overtaking difficult for virtally any of us. I managed to get a move done on him into turn 1, but then later on in the lap i'm assuming the lag struck another victim as he and Blue went spinning. From there I could only match pritt while Karthikeyan was closing in on me.
In the final stint I must have had a better stop than pritt because I was suddenly right behind him, thankfully after a few laps I was able to get a clean move done which put in P5. Karthikeyan got through also and there was a 2 or so second gap between us which I knew I couldn't hold, but I was hoping I could have kept up enough pace so that he'd only have one or two laps at the end to try and pass me. In the end I caught some oversteer out of turn 2 which put him right behind me, then he and I had a good little battle for the remaining laps which he just won out of on the final lap.
I'm a little bit disappointed though with all the lag we're getting in this league, because it ruins what would otherwise undoubtedly be excellent, close racing. But i'm struggling to think of what could be done about it. I may try hosting next week (Blue can't host for the next few races as he's at Uni) to see if that helps. But can evveryone try to do anything they can on their end, e.g. restarting internet before joining the lobby, making sure as few people as possible are using the internet in your house simultaneously.
I am very disappointed with my race this was one of my favorite tracks and I was hoping you stay in the top 5. childbirth good qualifying fifth. but at the first corner I push karthikeian (very sorry m8) and are waiting for him last. began my recovery although now the race is lost.'ll see the next
That was a slightly frustrating race. I didn't really make any mistakes but I lost a lot of time when Tia span in front of me and I had no where to go. That put me right back down the pack and I lost a lot of my front wing which made turning in much harder for till my next stop. I knew I needed some luck on my side to get a good result here, which just didn't happen. I didn't have much luck in the pits either, I lost a lot of time on both stops unfortunately. On the last lap Pelos span off ahead of me and I gained a place, but overall my race wasn't that great. I was fairly distracted for a lot of it as well because someone was in my room trying to talk to me.
dont think i could have planned a better race to start the highlights for!! from what im hearing it sounds like there was a lot of action!!
completely bottled quali with a 30.7!!! so sitting in the garage before the race i was just hoping i could get past people as cleanly and quickly as possible.
everybody got off the line well and i just made sure i was in a decent enough space to find a gap if people had and contact and somehow managed to slip through the middle of turn 1 and the inside of turn 2 with no contact or dramas and end up 5th behind pritt!! GAME ON!! got passed pritt and started to hunt down jason and ellis. decided to go for an undercut to see if i could jump ellis and maybe even jason. jumped ellis but came out just behind jason but a mistake early on into the stint put ellis right on my tail. think it was near this point that ellis lagged out. gutted for you mate coz you were having a great race up to then. decided to not pit until jason did just so there was no difference in tyres. looked like i was gaining slowly until i went in super hot in to the double left/hairpin and had to put it in reverse to spin the car and not lose any time which then put me in a battle with franglish until the end. some great driving franglish, really enjoyed our battle just gutted i threw away 3rd, possibly even 2nd if i hadnt of made 2 stupid mistakes.
overall im pleased to be battling with people near the front and challenging for podium places, just hope i can continue this pace through out the season and possibly challenge for promotion.
also im not sure if anyone noticed, but the fastest lapsof the top 4 drivers were within 2 tenths of each other, just goes to show how close this division is!!
Here's my race highlights. @Livingdead i'll put up my full race video as an unlisted video tonight and tweet you the link. @Pritt our incident is at 6:25, as I said I hit your lag bubble rather than your car, and I think I would have avoided you otherwise. Also your video shows my car hitting the apex, my screen shows I was nowhere the apex as I was trying not to hit you, which makes it clear that this a lag incident.
Although it wasn't the most exciting race I'm very happy with the result!
Quali went very well, on my 1st run I did a 29.9 but felt I dropped a couple of tenths in the last last sector so went for another run and managed to improve to a 29.8 which put me 2nd on the grid. Looking at the F1 quali times brociek would have been on pole and I would have been 3rd, shame I got relegated
I was quite nervous for the start with the tight turn 1 and the possibility of losing the rear out of turn 2 but all went well, just, as I had about 3 cars go flying past just missing me going into turn 1. I tried to stay with brociek and I would have got DRS had it not been for a silly mistake which lost me almost a second and put Ellis right on the back of me. Managed to defend from him until the pitstop on lap 7, came out with ryan ahead who I cleared quickly but livingdead also did and now was on the back of me. I think the gap opened out a bit because he was battling ellis who then lagged out, again, on lap 15 ( #whatasurprise :-D) and I came in the pits again on lap 18 with about a 3 second gap to livingdead. He must have been held up big time because the gap was close to 10 seconds a couple of laps after we pitted and from there I just tried to stay of the kerbs and brought it home in 2nd with a 12 second gap in front and behind. Overall, I'm very happy with the result, the best I could have got as the win was way out of reach and a great haul of points to help my promotion push which I didn't expect to be doing.
Congrats to Brociek on your 1st win, wouldn't be surprised if go to F1 soon, you've easily got the pace over the rest of us! Looking forward to Spain although I'm not great around there, Monaco is what I'm really waiting for, anyway see you next week.
Finally I got my first win after a couple of podiums! I´m very happy that the time has come
Quali was average as my pb was a 1:29,4, but I retired after the 1:29,704 because I thought it will be enough for the pole.
Race was quite boring (haha!). From the pole I got a good start and hold my 1st place. After that I tried to create a gap to Jason, what I successfully did. After the 1st pit stop I just drove carefully to not get spun by the kerbs and I got the win
Also happy that I created a good gap in the championship, 23 points to 2nd place now.
