PS3 F1 Leagues - Season 8
PS3 Sign Up Thread
Welcome to Season 8 of the Apex Online Racing PS3 F1 Leagues!
After 7 successful seasons on Codemasters' F1 games we're now racing on the F1 2013 game, and hope that it can provide us with the best and most enjoyable experience yet! We've made a name for ourselves providing fast, clean, fair and competitive racing in a virtual environment and we plan to live up to that and keep improving.
AOR is all about having an enjoyable experience on track by following proper racing rules, as opposed to the demolition derby that is public lobbies.
Following on from the success of previous seasons, we hope there will once again be a lot of good, clean and competitive racing to be had in Season 8! An important part of the AOR slogan is also the word fair. If we all play by the rules, don't try to exploit faults in the game, and race cleanly on the track, there should not be any issues. So if you are going to be a part of our leagues, then you play by our rules, and you play fair!
There are both good and bad aspects with the online experience on F1 2013, so before signing up we ask you to please make sure you are happy with how the game plays, and thus that you are properly committed to remain part of our leagues for the full league season. If you respect the rules and try your best to be a positive member of the site, we will do our best to give you an enjoyable league experience.
Please note that only reserve places currently remain for Season 8. As a reserve driver, you will only race when one of the 16 league drivers are unable to attend. However, it is often the case that one or two league drivers cannot attend and so we recommend that you still look to complete the process so that you can be placed as a reserve driver.
- The current league structure consists of 5 main leagues with races taking place on Thursday and Sunday nights.
- Race times will remain in the evening UK time, by default at 8pm. Minor modifications to the race time can be agreed within each league if necessary.
- Each league contains up to 16 drivers, spread across 8 different cars, with the drivers in the same car listed as team mates.
- The full Season 8 race calendar can be found here. All leagues are running 50% distance races.
- The amount of assists allowed decreases the further up in the structure you go. An overview of what assists are allowed in each league can be found here.
All of the leagues' rules can be found in the RULES & REGULATIONS thread. By signing up to our leagues, you agree to abide by all of our rules, and we expect all drivers to be aware of these before entering. Our racing rules are in place to help us enforce clean and fair racing in the leagues. As an AOR driver, it is required that you do your very best to race within these rules. In short, this means no contact and no corner cutting. We also expect that you behave maturely and respectfully in the race lobby and on the forums. An important thing to remember is that you sign up to the league with the intention of completing the full season, not only a few races. If you have to pull out during the season due to something in your life forcing you to quit that is fine, but choosing to pull out due to not liking the game anymore or having a bad season will see you placed on the blacklist. This means you will not be allowed to return at any point in the future.
Joining the Leagues:
Existing drivers: If you have been part of our leagues in previous seasons, you can sign up for a league by posting in this thread following the template found below. If you were part of a league at the end of Season 6, you are guaranteed a place if you sign up at the start of this season's leagues. We will try to set up the new leagues to make them as competitive as possible, based on each driver's results in the previous season, but as usual we expect that not everyone from the previous season will sign up again, so some adjustments will have to be made aside from the set promotion/relegation system. New or returning drivers may be used to fill "gaps" carried over from the previous season or caused by drivers not signing up again.
New drivers: If you have not previously been part of our leagues, you can sign up for a league by posting in this thread following the template found below. However, you will additionally have to complete steps 2 and 3 of the 'sign-up process' before you are eligible to enter - which involves properly completing 2 social races and posting 2 Time Trial times in order to show us that you are committed to taking part in the league, as well as able to race cleanly and fairly in a proper race environment. It will also help us determine which league you seem quick enough to be joining.Information on how to complete the sign-up process can be found below.Once the sign-up process is completed, you will be placed on a waiting list and have to wait until an appropriate league spot opens up. If you are lucky, it might be that a spot is available right away. However if no appropriate league spot is available, you may be assigned to a league as a reserve driver while waiting for a main driver spot to open.
You should only sign up to the Championship if
- you intend to complete the full season.
- you are able to race regularly on the set race day.
- you intend to be active on the forum.
- you are a clean, fair and mature racer. In signing up, you confirm that you have read the content of the RULES & REGULATIONS thread and accept the rules and regulations specified. Please note that the PS3 leagues currently do NOT run traction control.
If you are a new driver, you need to complete ALL of the below steps. Drivers who have previously raced in our leagues only need the first step.
Sign up by replying to this thread, following the below template:
Can you race on Sundays or Thursdays? [You need to be able to race on Sunday/Thursday nights in order to attend our leagues]
Playstation ID: [Enter your PSN ID here]
Nationality: [Enter your nationality here]
Assists: [Enter the assists you use here]
To show us that you are committed to taking part in the league, as well as able to race cleanly in a proper race environment, we require that you take part in, and report, two social races before you are entered into a league. Social races are custom online races that are set up independently by our drivers, but that follow the same rules of clean and fair racing as our leagues.Social races are frequently organized by our members in the Social Races & Tournaments section.Step-by-step guide to complete and report social races:
1. Find a social race that you would like to join. Social races are listed here.
2. Sign up to the social race by replying to the thread for that race, stating your gamertag and the car you want to drive.
3. If you are online at the time of the race, the host will invite you into the lobby.
4. Race! You need to complete the full race for it to count towards the 2 required races.
5. Report the race to us in the Social Race Progress thread. This is done by replying to that thread, following the specified template.
If you do this correctly, the admins will be able to stay updated with how you're getting on. 2 properly completed social races is usually enough to be entered into a league, unless we feel they've not been completed in a sufficient manner. Hopefully this won't be a problem - social races are usually arranged most days!An admin will contact you via PM when we feel you are ready to be placed in a league!
You must complete 2 time trial times from Brazil and Suzuka and post your times here. This will help us evaluate your pace and which league you may be best suited to join.
