To sum up that Monaco race simply - traffic jam.

Qualy: 22nd - As I wasn't feeling to confident ahead of the race and thought the best option for me would be to start at the back (I assume @Rib Ivey had the same idea) after I nearly Grosjean'ed my car on my out lap, could've lost my left rear wheel when I clipped it with the barrier at turn 10, so decided to watch qualy from the comfort of the pitlane after I made it back.:D

Race: 7th - Talk about a topsy-turvy race, before the start I moved up a place as unfortunately Kris got disconnected.
At the start I decided to more or less crawl of the line just to make sure I would have more then enough time to avoid any incidents at turn 1 which there was, after I made my way past that I was behind @Seca who was lagging a bit on my screen, (jumping back and forward erratically) I backed off through turn 3 but not enough as his car jerked back sharply into mine at turn 4 and with no time to react it damaged my front wing (not his fault obviously). I decided to backed off from seca as much as I could for the next few turns before letting someone past into the tunnel, after I came out the tunnel I saw seca had retired at turn 10.
At the end of the lap I pitted for a new front wing and at the same time the SC came out which definitely helped me, after the SC period finished I was running 14th and the next few laps I was pretty much holding station in a train of cars though I once again damaged my front wing just because of the accordion effect, luckily the SC came out a lap later and I was able to pit again to replace it.
At the end of the 2nd SC period I was in another train of cars where @syluntbob68 was leading the way (9th) and I was in 12th, again for a couple laps I could only hold station though that changed when after coming under heavy pressure from @Marcus Lindblom, I made a mistake at turns 15/16 and went into the barrier though luckily it only caused minor right side damage to my front wing, I carried on and started to catch the train again, but then the train suddenly derailed syluntbob made an error and spun (I think) and 2 more in that train had an incident which released @machwebb and myself.

A few laps later and due to a couple more people having incidents I was up in 7th and getting into a rhythm or so I thought, when on lap 20 I made a mistake and hit the inside barrier after getting bad wheelspin exiting the hairpin which badly damaged my front wing and meant I had to pit to replace it. (which was very annoying as I had a nice gap to the car behind and wasn't planning to pit)

After leaving the pits for the 3rd time to replace a damaged front wing I came out in 12th and was just looking to avoid another trip to the pits for the rest of the race. A couple laps later I saw another car had retired sadly it was my teammate machwebb, for many laps after that I was fairly consistent and reasonably quick, by lap 30 I had moved up to 7th due to people pitting then a couple laps later @Dale Stones spun and I moved up to 6th but I was getting caught by @pete day.
He eventually caught me and I was keeping him behind and catching @chris130256 but on lap 38 I made a error at the exit of turn 8, got very bad wheelspin which allowed pete to get alongside me in the tunnel:eek:, pete had the inside going into turn 10 so I had to concede the position, for the last lap I just kept close to pete and chris to finish 7th.

Looking back I think 5th was definitely possible and while its slightly disappointing to lose 6th near the end if you offered me 7th before the race I would have ripped your arm off so I have no complaints (especially after 3 stops in the first 20 laps for front wings).:)
Want to say bravo to @pete day for that overtake, there was a lot of trust and awareness required to make that possible as 2 wide in the tunnel was very nerve-racking for me, I can only imagine what you were thinking while you were on the outside in the tunnel.
As for overtaking I only passed 1 person properly and that was an opportunistic overtake on mpc-v1 on the exit of turn 11.

Want to congratulate @Malaske for what must have been a flawless qualy and race win also to @Joost for taking a superb 2nd from 12th and well done to Bcolli for 3rd and everyone else who finished.(y)
Lastly unlucky @machwebb I think you would have finished top 5 easy without your race ending error, your race pace was slightly better then mine so at least look at the positives, future races should bode well for Toro Rosso.:)

okay here is my summary of yesterday's race.

My goal in the Qualy was inside the top 10, unfortunately I started from P12. In front of me on P10 was my teammate @Wimstradamus and on P11 it was @machwebb.
When the lights hit green we pasted the first corner, I moved up to P9.
After Casino, LSD_High and Sultan30 where in a battle, because Sultan30 had not a good corner I take his spot, P8 it was.
Philipp2966 has kissed the wall at the Mirabeau Haute corner, so I moved up to P7. And still we are in Lap 1.
Because the Safety Car was out in lap 2, I have saved some fuel to turn the engine in lean modus.
At the restart I won a place because Blindblom1 also kissed the wall at turn 1. So now P6 was on the pitboard.
LSD_High was in front of me on P5 and Bcolli was on P4, it was an small Bcolli train :)
In Lap 10 there was a new Safety Car, Bcolli was going in, so LSD_High and I won a spot, LSD had P3 and I P4.

Also other drivers entered the pits, so the pitcrew told me that we had P2.
In lap 18 on P3 I had to change tires, from SuperSoft to Soft tires. I lost two places so P5 it was after the stop.
Fresh new tires, means more grip :)

In lap 33 Aero_Blake was going in to take new tires, again the crew told my trough the radio, P2 is now yours.
But, BColli was hanging in my gearbox! So it was a difficult task to defend P2 in the last 6 laps. Because I had a some fuel over my enige was in rich mode, the horse power of the ferrari did his task.
I felt the pressure of BColli, but I made no mistake and P2 was the first podium for me this season.

What a feeling it was. The pressure to defend P2, and take it.
Now the focus on Canada. I will post the video in the other topic.

I do not know the names of everybody here, so I entered the PSN names of the drivers in my summary :)

Qualy: 14th
Race: 12th

Qualy: One lap pace just not my thing so qualifying around here was never going to be good. 1st lap I clipped the barrier and spun. Then got blocked by a Ferrari on my next lap. So that was 2 laps done with. Eventually a timed run on the board before going out once more to move into 14th. Could not get that perfect run.

Race: Was dreading turn 1, so took it easy on the outside and hoped to dodge any carnage. Managed to move into around 11th or 12th but had a slightly damaged front wing from contact with the barrier. Safety car came out so decided to pit and get the front wing fixed. Was a good plan until leaving the pitlane, where I span the rear wheels up and crashed into the barrier immediately, damaging my front wing again. Kind of summed up my race.

After more people retiring and crashing around me, I was stuck behind a couple of drivers. Was a good little battle until contact was made with those two and I managed to get past. My joy lasted around 2 corners when I clipped the wall, again, and lost my front wing. Another pit stop needed. Now down in around 11th, I am on the super softs tyres to the end.

10 laps or so to go and 6th place is mine. But at the end of sector 1, I for some reason did not brake hard enough and crashed straight into the wall. Reversing around to get going again was, let's say, harder than expected. Sort of looked like this...

5 laps to go, down in 12th, ultra soft tyres on. Try and catch the Sauber in front but could not get past. Cross the line to think of what might have been. Race video below. Thank god this one is over.

Sorry to @Defiant195 for our incident if it was my fault? I'll check replay tomorrow. I felt I was along side on the inside when we touched?
First one out of the tunnel you scared me off track and I got a straight 3 secs penalty, second one I gave you the corner, could not see you turned in very late and wide when you then skidded off track as I was turning in. Got yellow damage on left side.
No worries mate, I think I got off very light with overtakers this weekend.

Very well done to Joost BTW, that was a stellar performance. And overtake of the day for me goes to Marcus Lindblom for going around the outside of me at Rascass.

Race turned out to be less of grind than expected, but my heart was still pounding hard 20 minutes after thee race. Had a little lie down. A point still alludes me even though I put in a good performance.

Do you have footage of my overtake? I again forgot to stop the recording so I don't have my footage.
It was so scary and in the middle of it felt a lot of regret for being way to optimistic but you did well to stay out of the way of my stupidity

Qualified in 13th which was a little disappointing as I had been getting into the high 14’s but couldn’t hook up my lap after I had overwritten my car setting DOH!!
This did however allow me to start on the super softs and was very confident of a points finish as had done many long runs over the week and was getting really consistent times down to 10th of a second.

Race was really disappointing as I’ve only managed to finish two races so far and in each of those have had to pit on lap 1, maybe it’s me being a poor driver….

Go a great start again as @machwebb slides all the way over the the left leaving the gap. I think he clips @Wimstradamus and slows causing @Joost to also slow. @Wimstradamus then comes back all the way over to the right and I have to hit the brakes to avoid a collision which allows @Joost a clear run down the left closely followed by @Dale Stones so I’m back in 14th as opposed to jumping the two places at the start….

as we brake into T1 we are three wide with myself, @mpc-v1 and @Dale Stones and I’m close behind @machwebb who is close behind @neil rutter who appears to have a problem and slows, causing @machwebb who I think hits him and I certainly can’t avoid contact but it’s not too bad. Both @Defiant195 and @mpc-v1 manage to pass as we try to pass the stricken @neil rutter who has an issue with this wheel which locks his breaks and needs to do a reset.

Running in 15th up the hill and @machwebb is struggling with his line on a full fuel load. Then the collision as @machwebb brakes like 200 meters from the next corner… I hit his rear and then collide with the alcove. Wing is shot and then slide into the wall as we enter the swimming pool. Race over and will race an enquiry about the start as it’s happening each race.

Qualified 4th: Disappointing effort as my best lap round monaco is a 1:13.1 and i was nearly 2 seconds slower

Race: Average start but had to take the outside line as aeroblake was on my right and he had a good start so i dropped down to 5th.
Stuck behind chris for the next few laps untill the safety car comes out, during the safety car period get a damaged front wing as every1 stops after the blind corner before the tunnel and i hit into the back of chris.
Carried on for a few laps but a train was developing behind me and i was losing time so decided to pit. Just as i was about to enter the pits safety car came out again so had a bit of luck there.
At the restart im in 7th but on tires that prob wouldnt make it to the end. On lap 16 Chris and defiant have an incident infront of me at the chicane after the tunnel, miss the chicane completely then rejoin infront of me causing me to slow right down. I definately think i was intitled to them positions there and was fuming at the time. Dived past defiant on the next corner and then spent the next 3 laps stuck behind Chris.
Finally had some clear road after that and started to build up a lead on jjstyle who was on fresh softs as i knew my tires would fall off and at the time i was planning a 1 stop. Move up into 2nd when Aero pits but with 17 laps to go on 30% worn supersofts i knew i was gonna struggle to keep the pace up
On lap 28 i finally give up on the 1 stop and pit for a new set of ultras. Come out in 4th 10 seconds behind jjstyles and put the hammer down. I caught him in 4 laps and tried everything i could to get past but he didnt make any mistakes and showcased sone great defensive driving. Managed to nick 3rd when Aeroblake pitted again.

Overall prob done the best i could after a poor qually and a few incidents in the race but still a bit disappointing as i know that i have good pace and consistancy round here.

Congrats to Malaske on the win and jjstyles on 2nd from an unbelievable 12th on the grid.

the highlight of the race a move on @shadow_sylar
So that explains why I got very bad wheelspin (@0:47) didn't realise at the time I had my left rear on that kerb, going wide at turn 8 caused that chain of events though I think I did well to react in time to stop it going into the wall.

@Defiant195 I saw your vids of the race, saw you were running as high as 4th at one point before you had that incident with chris, I think its surely only a matter of time before your score points based on this performance.(y)

Ah nostalgia :joyful:, way off topic but I really enjoyed watching those Austin Powers films back in the day, that cart getting stuck was a brilliant piece of classic slapstick comedy.
Though for me this is probably the best  out of all the Austin Powers films - Juvenile comedy at its finest:hilarious::

Though it's probably a bit before there time for some of the younger members of AOR, so if by some chance you haven't seen any of the Austin Powers films then I fully recommend that you watch them.(y)

Quali: 10th ?!
Race: DNF :(
Jumpstart. Don't know what happened, but that 4th gear made me fly.
Pitty i got squeezed between a car and the left side wall before turn 1.
Then, seconds later i was squeezed again between a car and, this time the right side wall. It made me damage wy Fwing at the right wich, i think, causing me not making it into the next right. Straight into the wall. :(
Had to let the whole field pass.
Luckely the SC came out and i could get a fresh set SS and a new wing. I did cut the chicane after the tunnel on my way in, wich gave me a 10sec. penalty.
Again; the car felt good and pace also, after my pitstop. Had a feeling this could go to a good result. Some nice "battles"on the way.
2nd SC came out, just as i left the slow chicane after the tunnel.
While i was setting my fuelmix to lean i forgot to shift back to 4th. And yeah; i crashed. Race over. :(
This time i managed to record some of the race after my crash.
See ya in Canada.

I probably will if drivers certain to finish in the points either crash out or can't make the race. I just wish I could find a bit more pace so I can compete more on a lap time basis rather than a 'mistakes' quota basis. And tracks like Monaco are usually my best as well.
