Description:
After a few safety cars and incidents I managed to climb up positions before having to pit, going into the Casino Triangle I followed my race line and broke as I have during every lap before, but had @Fizzymon make contact and spin me out in front of traffic. Having to straighten myself and not cause more damage, I got back on track and into the pits. It looks like about 8 to 10 seconds I lost because of that and by the end of the race I was 10.7 behind 7th place so it cost me a higher finish unfortunately.

I said it to you already but I am so sorry for this. I attacked the corner and locked up when I realized I was going in way faster than you, causing the spin.

For reference, I had the same braking point on the next lap so I do not believe I missed my braking zone, but the Stewards can decide this.

Also, it needs to be noted that there was a Safety Car on the end of Lap 13, so even though I do not know why he was 10.7 seconds off at the end, the field was under safety car from lap 13-17.

So my final comments to the stewards are this. Let it be known that I am usually a very cautious driver, but at the time I was net P1 and being chased down so I was trying to get a strong out lap since I had just pitted. At no time prior in the race was I behind Viper, so I had no idea how he would take the chicane, and since there was space between us, I tried to take the corner normally with the goal of getting right up behind him for the DRS straight. In the attached images, you can see the speed difference (note Viper is in MPH) and is going 160 Kph (did the mph to kph conversion) versus my normal 190 at the 50 meter board. I realize in the collision, I am a gear higher, but I noticed the car was trying to lock up so I avoided down shifting in an attempt to not lock up, which sadly failed. Again, I had no idea that he would take the corner that slow and when I saw my car barreling towards him I broke at 100% brake power versus my normal trail braking to try to avoid the collision. I understand that as the driver behind it is my responsibility to be careful, I just want to explain where I am coming from, how I tried to avoid the incident, and that I apologize one last time for the contact.

The stewards have reviewed the evidence provided and conclude that @Fizzymon is to be blamed for causing a moderate avoidable collision. @Fizzymon will receive a 10 second time penalty and 10 penalty points. It is in general the responsibility of the driver behind to make sure no contact is made with the car in front.

Closed.
